Guess what, in March I was told that I have diabetes, my glucose readings were at 149, with the normal range being between 80-90 and my A1c was at 7.5, normal range is less than 5.7. What did I do, told the doctor that I would not be taking western medicine to “cure/fix or manage” my condition. Then I did what anyone would do who is told they cannot have something, I panicked! No more pastries, evening cocoa or peeps (yes, sad to admit I was kinda addicted to them). OK, my blood sugar was always high, I have been a sugar addict since I could remember, and now with the changes in how they determine diabetes, I was now in the range. I am youngish and still thought I had “time”. Do you know how few cookbooks there are out there for diabetes when you are also a vegetarian? I found one, yes one and it focuses on vegan. Sorry I am NOT giving up my cheese or eggs (that is why I am raising chickens). Another contributing factor was I use to be one medications and one of the side effects was an increased chance for diabetes. Not to mentioned it made me gain a huge amount of weight, which in and of itself contributes to diabetes. So this blog is to everyone on medication, for whatever reason. DO YOU REALLY NEED TO BE ON IT??
